Sonixtrip will be returning to Club Menai on August 22. We made it through the heat of their pre-recording show and will be returning to the shire for another heat. It’s a long way off, but we’re encouraging all our friends to come see us to push us through to the final.
These comps are vote based, so the more friends the better, and this will be one of our first shows after our recording. Hope to see you there.
Where: Club Menai
Address: 44-60 Allison Crescent, Menai
Time: 7pm
Entry: $10
Club Menai has a nice stage and sound set-up, and cheap piss, so everyone is happy. Check out our photos from last time or the site for more details.

We had a great show on Friday (June 13) at Club Menai - our second show with the current line up and the large stage provided just what we needed to pull of a tight show. Our own misfortune was that the video camera cut out just before we were on stage.
Another one of these band comps based on how many people you bring through the door (rather than musicability) means whoever brings the most people, regardless of quality, can make it through to the next round. We were really happy to have a bunch of people there to see us through to the final.

Funniest comment was from a young guitarist from the other band who described our sound as a cross between Sonic Youth and Dream Theatre. We then questioned whether he’d actually listened to those particular bands :P
Big thanks to Chizm for the photos and for everyone coming out to see us. Photos are now up on our MySpace as well as our Facebook Group page. As well as our some updates on our Last.fm profile shortly.
We’ll return to Menai for round 2, and we’d really love to see you all there to secure a place in the finals (in front of the judges). Stay tuned.

In the last 24 hours our Facebook group has grown by 53 members in the week leading up to our gig at Club Menai on June 13. It’s interesting to note that this audience, although not nearly as large as our MySpace page, is very targeted and to an audience with a higher interest in the four of us.
One thing to take away from this is spamming doesn’t and won’t ever work, it’s all about reaching your listeners. And this, for me, is a big reason for doing the EP - it means our listeners won’t necessarily (although we love them for it) only be able to listen at our live shows.
Recording is still planned for July, and we’ll be launching the demos through Last.fm, MySpace and Facebook to start. And then move into video clips as well.
To help our pre-production preparation, Sonixtrip will be playing another gig this June at Club Menai. So anyone south of the bridge should be in attendance as no passport is required :)

Mr. Hine is off to Europe for a short while, so recording has been post-poned to mid-July. But we’ll be getting in as many gigs in between then as now as possible, as well as releasing some video footage.

The photos from our first pre-recording gig at The Harp (Tempe) are now up on our Facebook Group Page, and will soon feature on Flickr.
Big thanks to Holly & Annik for taking the photos, and Shifty for the filming. We hope to be releasing the clips made from the gig. We’ll keep you updated.
Over all the show was tight and we were happy with the results. Thanks for coming out to support.

To introduce the new line up (Chris Rawlings, Steve Hine join Jared King and Jye Smith) and for preparation to our upcoming EP - Sonixtrip will be doing a late notice show at Tempe - The Harp Hotel.
We’d like to invite all our friends for a beer and a listen.
The EP will be recorded in late June/early July - and will be a blend of alternative hard rock and industrial undertones.

We’re planning to record an EP this June & July, and at present we’re finalising which songs and their structures. We hope to be playing a few preliminary shows before then too, so stay tuned.
